An official Snapchat app could finally be making its way to Windows 10 Mobile

Snapchat has had a murky history with regards to Windows Phone, with the service’s CEO publicly stating that he didn’t know people still used the OS. Snapchat also filed complaints against third-party clients of the service, such as “6discover” and “6snap”, having them removed from the Windows Phone Store.

However, back in May 2015, Snapchat stated that it is working on a Windows Phone app, and now it appears that we might be nearing a release date.

According to the Spanish Lumia Support account on Twitter, Microsoft is working with Snapchat on a Windows Phone app:

in response to a user enquiry asking “Snapchat… why can’t I install it? It doesn’t appear on the Windows Store”, the Microsoft account replied:

It will arrive soon to your Windows Phone! We are already working with our friends at Snapchat, to bring it as soon as possible.

Seeing that this statement is confirmation from a support account, which may or may not have access to this particular piece of information, there is reason to doubt it. However, when contacted via direct-message on Twitter, the spokesperson went on to explain how “everything is on a roll” and looking “positive”, reiterating that a Snapchat app will be making its way to Windows 10 Mobile soon.

While Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed the claim at its Windows Blog, it appears that Windows users might be able to get their hands on an official Snapchat Windows 10 Mobile app soon. We’ll let you know when we have more information on the matter.
