Getting game invites on Facebook can be as annoying as stepping on someone else’ spit and what compounds the matter is that most of the invites are sent from people you barely know. As if that is not enough, the invites just keep streaming in every day, non stop. So disgusting, right? Yet, a soft part of you won’t let you press the delete key on those sending the invites.
That was how I felt too some months ago till I was fortunate to find a lasting solution to the invites and I don’t mind sharing it again because I once shared it on my2015app (Never mind,am a cheerful giver).
Anyway, the good news is that Mark Zuckerberg has pledged to ‘crush’ Candy Crush for good at the India Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi today during a call and answer question session. The top rated question, with over 7,500 likes goes like:
“I don’t want any more invitations to Candy Crush. How can I stop it?”
As expected, the question welcomed a lot of cheers from the crowd at the event.
“This is where these Town Hall Q&As are really useful because I actually saw this question, that it was the top voted question on my thread,” Zuckerberg said.
The crushing verdict.
“So I sent a message to the person who runs the team in charge of our developer platform and I said by the time I do this Town Hall Q&A, I think it would be good if we had a solution to this problem.”
FYI, Candy Crush Saga players spent 865 million pounds on the game in 2014 alone.
But if you don’t mind having the remedy I used back then, here it is (It works for almost forms of notification you can get, apart from game invites):
On your iPhone,
1. Launch the Facebook application.
2. Hit the “More” button in the bottom right corner of the app.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap on “Mobile Push”.
4. Hit “Notifications”.
5. Under the section “How You Get Notifications”, tap on “Mobile Push”.
6. Uncheck the options that say “Application Requests” and “Application Invites.”
Wow! And that is the end of all those annoying requests.
You can also do it in on your non mobile devices i.e. laptops and personal computers. All you need to do is open your Facebook page, click on your notification ball and click the “x” beside the invite to turn of the notifications. Below is a screenshot to demonstrate the steps.
Click – click and you are finally free of the nuisance!
You will realize that the solution is quick and easy and it has always been right beneath your fingertips all these while but ignorance just didn’t allow you to see it. Don’t worry, you can thank me later.
