Using ‘Hey Siri’ Saved This Baby Girl’s Life

Siri can do many things, like set our appointments, record down reminders, perform searches on the web for us, and it seems that it can also call us an ambulance if we ever needed one. This is what one mom from Australia by the name of Stacey Gleeson found out when she discovered her 1-year old baby girl Giana had suddenly stopped breathing.

Speaking to 7 News, Gleeson claims that when she discovered her daughter wasn’t breathing, she panicked and dropped her phone. However she remembered that her iPhone had the “Hey Siri” function that lets you activate Siri without pressing a button, and this is what she used to call for help.

According to Gleeson, she says she yelled, “‘Hey Siri, call the ambulance,’ and then before I knew it the ambulance was on its way and Giana was breathing again.” While you might be thinking what’s a few seconds to pick up the phone and dial the number, but as her husband offered, those precious few seconds could have saved their daughter’s life as it could have given his wife the extra time needed to revive the baby.

Note that for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, “Hey Siri” can be activated without it having to be plugged into a charger. This is compared to older iPhones where you will have to have your phone plugged in for the hands-free “Hey Siri” feature to work.
